It should be common knowledge that drivers in Massachusetts and throughout the country are responsible for the safety of other motorists, and that includes passengers in a driver’s own vehicle. When motorists fail to live up to that responsibility and their actions are deemed to be negligent, then people who were injured as a result of a car accident are entitled to compensation.

A recent three-vehicle accident in Somerville sent seven injured people to local hospitals. Fortunately, none of the injuries sustained was thought to be life-threatening.

The 19-year-old driver of a 1994 Acura was identified as being responsible for the series of collisions, and his 18-year-old passenger was one of those transported from the scene for treatment.

Other injured persons included a 26-year-old female driver, the male passengers in her vehicle, and a 24-year-old man in a third vehicle. The injured parties were sent to Somerville Hospital and Massachusetts General. Details of the event were not made immediately available, but three local fire trucks arrived to help treat the victims at the scene.

All of those injured in the crash, apart from the 19-year-old driver, could potentially sue him for injuries and damages. It is important that Boston-area residents are aware that victims are protected under state law.

As for the injuries sustained in this particular accident, they may not seem serious at first.
