Multicar accident leaves one dead, at least 8 injured
Accidents involving moving vehicles are dangerous at any speed and can be fatal. When a car accident occurs, the injuries suffered by its various victims can range widely in severity.
Readers in Boston may have heard of a multicar accident that occurred recently in nearby Brockton. According to eyewitnesses, a car driven by a 27-year-old man was being pursued by police. The chase started when the driver accelerated his vehicle and fled after being stopped by local officers at an intersection. As police chased the man through Brockton, his vehicle was spotted approaching an intersection at high speed. It struck a green Jaguar there before colliding with several other vehicles along the street.
The 49-year-old driver of the Jaguar was killed in the crash. Up to seven other cars were involved in the pile-up. According to police reports, six people were taken to a hospital near the crash scene. Two others were taken to Brockton’s Good Samaritan Medical Center. The driver who precipitated the crash was later apprehended. He has been charged with manslaughter and assault with a dangerous weapon, as well as other violations involving a motor vehicle.
Victims of car accidents may suddenly find themselves facing unexpected financial burdens due to medical costs, as well as experiencing pain and suffering. Those who have been injured or who have lost a loved one due to the negligence of another driver need to be fully aware of their legal rights and options. Financial compensation may not be able to repair emotional trauma or compensate for the loss of a loved one, but it can help start the healing process.
