Burn injuries can have a devastating effect on the lives of those who suffer them. They are often very painful and can lead to scars or disfigurement. Burn injuries may often require expensive medical treatment for a full recovery. Victims of burn injuries should understand that they may have a right to seek compensation for damages related to their burns.

Fourteen residents of a three-level converted house were left homeless when a fire burned through the building recently. Four people were injured, including two Boston firemen who were trying to rescue the residents. A spokesman for the fire department said that one resident’s injury was due to burns, while another injured resident suffered smoke inhalation. One firefighter suffered burns on his face; the other sustained an injured groin. Both firefighters were released from the hospital later that night.

Authorities were still investigating the cause of the blaze. However, the owner of the building was issued a citation by the authorities. She also was ordered to make immediate repairs to the building or demolish it, because it was deemed unsafe after the fire.

Several neighbors helped residents by giving them a place to stay after the fire. In addition, two neighbors set up a fund to assist the residents. But that assistance may not be enough. Because authorities have already determined that the owner committed a violation, residents who suffered from injuries related to the fire may consider a lawsuit.
